Former London-based jingles composer who pioneered the use of computer-driven film scores. Zimmer collaborated with Stanley Myers on a string of films between 1982 and 1988, including Jerzy Skolimowski's Moonlighting (1982) and Nicolas Roeg's Insignificance (1985). Subsequent credits have ranged from Ridley Scott's Black Rain to Bruce Beresford's Driving Miss Daisy (1989). Zimmer also co-produced the soundtrack album for Bertolucci's The Last Emperor (1987).
