ZIMBALIST, Efrem
Filmacteur, * 30.11.1923, New York, NY
Education: Yale. The son of concert violinist Efrem Zimbalist and opera singer Alma Gluck, he showed an early interest in the theater and trained for the stage at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse. After returning from WW II service with a Purple Heart, he appeared in many plays and made his film debut in 1949. But following the sudden death of his first wife, he gave up acting and for several years devoted his time to music research. He returned to acting in the late 50s and emerged a star on TV, in the "77 Sunset Strip" and "The FBI" series and in a succession of films in which he has typically played dependable, trustworthy leading men.
