| Ook regisseur, producent en scripwriter * 3.10.1959 Opleiding: Universiteit van Michigan.  Zijn eerste film was direct een succes de 1983 uitgebrachte film voor het Cannes Film Festival met The Evil Dead, een kinetische oefening in het kamp van afschuw werd een internationale cult-favoriet. Raimi adviseerde nog meer tongue-in-cheek werk te maken en liet dit ook zien voor de camera met afgehakte lichaamsdelen in 1987, en toonde zijn eerste oeuvre in de reguliere film met (1990). Een stijlvolle, geestige omzetting van de comic-book esthetische naar het scherm, Darkman ook aandacht satirische hommage aan de Universal horror kenmerken van de jaren 1930, het was een succes op de box-office en introduceerde een breder publiek aan het werk Raimi's. Als een kind, maakte Raimi reeds een 8mm korte film, beïnvloed door zijn favoriete comic books, en in zijn collegedagen, vormde hij creatieve partnerschappen die duurden tot en met vier speelfilms. Aan de Michigan State stichtte hij de Vereniging van ‘Creative Film’ met broer Ivan, die later mede-scripted Darkman, en acteur Robert Tapert, die alle functies van Raimi produceerde tot nu toe. Op afstuderen Raimi gevormd Renaissance Foto's met Tapert en een andere student performer, Bruce Campbell, die verschenen is in al zijn films, met name als Ash in de Evil Dead verhalen. Raimi is ook in verband gebracht met de Coen Brothers: producer Ethan was een assistent-redacteur van The Evil Dead en de beide broers scripted Crimewave (1985).
