German-American actor (1920-

*  20-3-1920, Cologne, Germany -

After the Nazi take-over, he came to the US from Germany with his father, famed conductor Otto Klemperer, in 1933. He played character parts, typically as a ridiculous, bald, monocled Nazi, in a number of films, and twice won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of the camp commandant in the TV series "Hogan's Heroes."
