GAGNON, Clarence
Canadees schilder (1881-1942)
He studied under William Brymner at the Art Association of Montreal, then at the Academie Julian, Paris, under Laurens. Gagnon was a great etcher and two were reproduced in Paul Duval's book, Canadian Drawings and Prints. Returning to Canada in 1909, he concentrated on paintings of habitant life. R.C.A.in 1922. He did the illustrations for Maria Chapdelaine in 1933. He is represented in the A.G.O., the National Gallery, Montreal Art Association Library, Museum of the Province of Quebec, etc.
